A CNC Machine
Most hobby-class machines (including many Onefinity, Shapeoko, OpenBuilds, and custom builds) will work. Look for options with NEMA 23 motor mounts. -
Room for Homing Switches
We include universal proximity switches. If your machine doesn’t have mounting locations, we’ll provide custom 3D printable bracket designs—just ask! -
Willingness to Dive In
This is a full electronics upgrade. We've made it as simple as possible, but expect some DIY steps (like calibrating stepper motor settings). No worries—we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Installing this kit will require removing your machine’s original electronics—which means it will likely void any existing manufacturer warranty. But once complete, you'll have a far more capable and maintainable system.

This kit has made a cnc router with very poor electronics and a fantastic mechanical side a production machine.
There is a small issue with one of the cable lengths but a workaround has been provided. It’s still worthwhile getting this kit to make a good machine great.
The conversion kit is an impressive upgrade for any CNC machine. I have a Shapeoko 5 Pro 4' x 4' machine.
Replacing the controller and electronics was very straightforward. It's worth noting that there are no instructions included in the kit - it's intended to convert any CNC with Nema23 motors to a PwnCNC powered machine. Despite the lack of machine specific instructions, it was clear from all of the connections how to wire the machine to the new controller and power supply. Support quickly got my few questions answered and I was up and running again quickly (I think the conversion took about 6 hours).
The lack of instructions is not a downside - there are so many options for how a CNC machine can be configured that creating documentation would be a daunting task. As I mentioned before, support answered my questions quickly and solved my problems on the first go around. Any machine specific issues are going to be easy to deal with.
The Masso controller is leaps and bounds ahead of what I previously had. Although there's a bit of a learning curve, the community and support are there to help out. With just a change to the post-processor, I'm seeing a huge quality improvement using the same CNC bits and wood from the same board.
The table the CNC sits on is now the limiting factor in how it performs.
Relatively easy to set up. Many more options with the Masso controller. Wiring way better than the stock. Support was prompt with a few questions I had. Would highly recommend!
The MASSO came plug and play. You did a very nice job on the modifications on the back for the wiring which made for a convenient and clean install.
I plan on building another machine soon and will definitely be ordering another kit from you guys. Your turn around time was very impressive. Keep up the good work guys!
