G-Penny iHSS57 Integrated Closed-Loop Stepper Motor
Integrated motor, encoder, and driver • 1.2Nm, 2.0Nm, or 3.0Nm • Optional 24VDC brake
The G-Penny iHSS57 is a compact integrated closed-loop stepper motor designed for CNC retrofits, replacement applications, and custom machine builds. The encoder and motor driver are built directly into the motor assembly, providing closed-loop position feedback without the need for a separate external stepper driver.
Special-Order Item — 7–9 Week Estimated Lead Time
This motor is ordered from G-Penny specifically for your order. Estimated arrival to PwnCNC is approximately 7–9 weeks, followed by inspection and order preparation before shipment to you. International freight, customs, supplier scheduling, or carrier delays can extend this estimate.
Available Configurations
- 1.2Nm — no brake or 24VDC brake
- 2.0Nm — no brake or 24VDC brake
- 3.0Nm — no brake or 24VDC brake
Key Features
- Integrated closed-loop design: Motor, encoder, and driver are combined into one assembly.
- NEMA 23 mounting pattern: Suitable for many CNC routers, mills, and retrofit applications.
- Pulse-and-direction control: Compatible with supported CNC controllers using standard motion signals.
- Selectable microstepping: Allows motion resolution to be configured for the machine.
- Alarm and position-reached outputs: Supports system monitoring and fault handling.
- Flexible signal wiring: Supports common-anode, common-cathode, and differential signal configurations.
- 24–50VDC motor input: Designed for common CNC motion-control power systems.
- Up to 250kHz pulse input: Suitable for higher-speed motion-control applications.
- RS-232 parameter access: Allows supported configuration and diagnostics.
- 21mm long x 8mm output shaft
Choosing the Brake Option
- No Brake: Best for X, Y, rotary, and other axes that will not move under gravity when power is removed.
- 24VDC Power-Release Brake: Recommended for vertical axes, especially Z axes carrying a heavy spindle, ATC spindle, or other load. The brake releases when 24VDC is applied and locks when power is removed.
The brake uses separate power leads and may require a relay, transistor output, or other properly rated switching device. Do not power the brake directly from a controller enable output unless that output is specifically rated for the required current.
Compatibility and Wiring
These motors can be used with compatible pulse-and-direction CNC controllers, but they are not assumed to be pin-for-pin replacements for MASSO-branded or PwnCNC-branded motors.
Depending on the controller and installation, additional conductors, a jumper, or signal-conditioning components may be required. Follow the PwnCNC wiring diagram for supported installations and verify every terminal assignment before applying power. Do not rely on wire colors from a different motor model.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the required torque for each axis.
- Confirm whether a holding brake is needed.
- Verify NEMA 23 mounting dimensions and available clearance.
- Verify shaft diameter and coupling compatibility.
- Confirm power-supply voltage and available current.
- Confirm controller signal type and wiring requirements.
- Confirm brake-switching capacity when selecting a brake model.
Special-Order Policy
This motor is procured specifically for your project. Once procurement has begun, cancellations, configuration changes, or returns may be restricted or subject to restocking and freight charges. Please verify the selected torque and brake configuration before ordering.
