Masso is changing their myWorkshop PRO smartphone application into a subscription based model which will be required starting April 15th.
We have reached out to them and are working diligently to determine what exactly is being affected by this change.
We believe this only affects those who are using the smartphone applications or the website to remotely monitor the status of their machine. That said we will share information as soon as we get updated.
Please be patient and know that we are working very hard to advocate for our customers. We will make additional information available as soon as we know more.
Our Understanding:
- All controllers will come with the latest version of their firmware the day the controller was registered with Masso. Registration typically happens within a few days of your controller or machine purchase.
- You do NOT need a subscription to use your controller, it is completely optional
- The controller does not require an internet connection and does not "phone home" to verify licensing.
- If you need to reinstall firmware, the firmware version available at purchase will continue to be available through their myWorkshop website but newer/updated versions of the firmware is not available without an active subscription.
- myWorkshop Pro (their phone app) will not be available without an active subscription.
- If they release a new version of the firmware after your purchase date, you will not be able to download that software without an active subscription.
- Masso Link (the ability to transfer files to the controller over wifi) does NOT require an active subscription and will continue to function normally

Update 2:
- Users can still use myWorkshop account to download your existing MASSO software at any time.
- All new MASSO controllers will come with the latest available software on the day of purchase.
- If controllers are purchased as part of a machine or through a reseller, they will still include the most up-to-date software version available on the date the order is dispatched.
- Only the myWorkshop remote app/web remote features and future software updates will require this $19 cost.

Just to be clear, we’re still a small team of CNC makers, building MASSO with and for the community. Everything we’ve created, every feature, tool, and update, comes from your feedback.
That said, to keep building great software, running services like myWorkshop, and supporting our growing user base, this small US$19/month option helps support future development and infrastructure costs. And if there’s a future feature you want? You can just pay once to unlock it, no ongoing cost is required.
