Is the PwnCNC Spindle System compatible with Onefinity CNC machines?
Yes. PwnCNC Spindle Systems are compatible with many Onefinity machines, including the Original Series, X-50, Pro, Elite with Masso Touch, and Gen2 Elite machines using the Redline / 15" HMI controller.
Our spindle systems have been used by Onefinity customers for years and were originally designed with Onefinity-style hobby CNC installations in mind, while also supporting many other CNC brands.
For Redline-specific setup information, see our Onefinity Redline Controller guide:
https://support.pwncnc.com/kb/article/606-onefinity-redline-controllers/
Does the PwnCNC Spindle System work with the Onefinity Gen2 Elite / Redline controller?
Yes. Our Spindle Systems can be used with Onefinity Gen2 Elite machines using the Redline controller.
The Redline controller uses Modbus / RS-485 communication for automatic spindle control. Our current documentation explains how to wire and configure PwnCNC Spindle Systems and Spindle Kits for Redline automatic mode, including forward, reverse, and RPM control. The Redline guide also notes that switching from an older Onefinity controller to Redline may require a different control cable and, in some cases, minor VFD programming changes.
Can the spindle run manually if I do not want controller-based automatic control yet?
Yes. Our enclosed Spindle Systems include a Manual / Automatic mode switch.
In Manual Mode, you can start the spindle from the VFD keypad and adjust speed from the VFD, similar to how you would manually control a router. In Automatic Mode, the CNC controller communicates with the VFD and controls spindle start, stop, direction, and RPM.
Do you offer plug-and-play wiring for Onefinity machines?
Yes. Our enclosed Spindle Systems are designed to simplify installation and reduce the amount of wiring customers need to perform.
Depending on your machine and controller, the system may include or require the correct control cable for your specific controller type. Onefinity BlackBox / BuildBotics-style controllers, Elite / Masso Touch controllers, and Redline controllers do not all use the same control wiring, so choosing the correct controller option is important.
If you are moving from a Onefinity BlackBox or Masso Elite controller to Redline, you may need an updated Redline-compatible control cable. The Redline support article lists the correct cable options for enclosed Spindle Systems and unenclosed Spindle Kits.
What CNC machines are PwnCNC Spindle Systems compatible with?
PwnCNC Spindle Systems are compatible with many hobby and prosumer CNC platforms, including:
- Onefinity Original, X-50, Pro, Elite, and Gen2 Elite / Redline
- Shapeoko 3, 4, Pro, 5 Pro, and HDM
- Sienci Labs LongMill MK2 and AltMill
- MillRight machines using GRBL or Masso-based controllers
- Avid CNC
- Many other machines capable of spindle control
Compatibility depends on the controller, voltage, spindle mount size, and control method. If you are unsure which option to choose, contact us before ordering and we’ll help confirm the right configuration.
Is the PwnCNC VFD compatible with Onefinity Redline?
Yes. Our Delixi-based VFD systems can communicate with the Redline controller using Modbus / RS-485 for automatic control when configured correctly.
For PwnCNC enclosed Spindle Systems, the VFD is preconfigured to support automatic operation when the Manual Override switch is set to Automatic. For Spindle Kits without an enclosure, users may need to manually change VFD settings when switching between manual and automatic operation.
Is the PwnCNC ATC System compatible with the Onefinity Gen2 Elite / Redline controller?
At this time, we do not advertise the PwnCNC ATC System as verified for the Onefinity Redline controller.
Our ATC System is a more industrial-style automatic tool changing solution and depends on controller support for the required inputs, outputs, tool-change logic, and safety behavior. We have extensive ATC experience with Masso-based systems, but we do not currently have confirmed Redline ATC support for the PwnCNC ATC System.
If Redline ATC support becomes practical and fully verified, we’ll update our documentation.
If I buy a manual Spindle System now, can I upgrade it into a PwnCNC ATC System later?
A manual spindle and an ATC spindle are different products.
A standard manual ER-style spindle does not become an automatic tool changing spindle by adding a bolt-on attachment. ATC requires a purpose-built ATC spindle with a pneumatic drawbar, tool holders, sensors, pneumatics, and controller integration.
So, if you upgrade to a PwnCNC ATC System later, you should expect to replace the manual spindle itself with an ATC-capable spindle assembly.
Can I use a PwnCNC manual Spindle System with Onefinity’s RapidChange / Redline ATC system?
Yes, our manual Spindle Systems should be compatible with Onefinity’s RapidChange-style ATC approach, provided the setup requires a spindle capable of running both clockwise / forward and counter-clockwise / reverse.
Our spindle systems support forward and reverse operation when configured with a compatible controller, which is the primary spindle-side requirement for that style of system.
That said, Onefinity’s RapidChange / Redline ATC system and PwnCNC’s ATC System are separate ecosystems. Onefinity’s system is their tool changing solution, while our PwnCNC ATC System is built around our own ATC spindle, pneumatics, wiring, and controller integration.
Is Onefinity’s Redline system the same as the PwnCNC Spindle System?
No. They are separate systems sold and supported by different companies.
There may be similarities in the general type of components used, because both systems are solving the same problem: controlling a spindle from a hobby CNC controller. However, PwnCNC Spindle Systems are designed, assembled, documented, and supported by PwnCNC.
When you buy from PwnCNC, you are getting our configuration, our wiring approach, our documentation, and our direct support.
Where can I find Onefinity setup documentation?
We maintain Onefinity-specific setup guides for multiple controller types, including:
- Onefinity BlackBox / BuildBotics-style controllers
- Onefinity Elite with Masso Touch
- Onefinity Redline controllers
For Gen2 Elite / Redline machines, start here:
https://support.pwncnc.com/kb/article/606-onefinity-redline-controllers/
Do you provide support if I run into trouble?
Yes. We support our spindle customers directly.
If you are unsure which system to order, which control cable you need, or how your specific CNC controller should be configured, contact us before ordering or during installation. We’re happy to help you choose the correct setup and point you to the right documentation.
For ATC troubleshooting, the key is usually identifying exactly where the tool-change sequence stops. Our ATC troubleshooting documentation walks through the expected tool-change sequence, Masso input/output assignments, sensor behavior, and what information to send support if something does not behave as expected.
